Pomegranates hold a special place in my heart, they remind me of my grandpa. When I was a kid he would sometimes make a special treat for me of vanilla ice cream topped with either cantaloupe or pomegranate. My grandpa is symbolic of my childhood for me. The way he loved me and taught me about the world is something I think about a lot to this day. As I move through my current healing journey my grandpa and my childhood have been at the forefront of my thoughts. I fundamentally changed as a person when my grandpa died and I would like to find a way to get some of the parts that were lost back. Painting pomegranates allows me the space to meditate on this and bring out the child inside of me that misses hanging out with his grandpa.
