From my flores tristes series. They speak to the power of embracing emotion and the cyclical nature of life/death. My mom’s maiden name is Flores, and I’ve always loved that. Her dad had a huge impact on my life as a child, and his death profoundly changed me.

Emotions feed and enrich the human experience, and often when I cry I gain access to parts of myself I hadn’t previously. Flowers for me are a beautiful example of the birth/life/death cycle and how nothing lasts forever. A reminder to cherish beauty when it’s presented to you, and to be mindful of the eventual decay.
