Apofenia: the tendency to attribute meaning to perceived connections or patterns between seemingly unrelated things.
Drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of Lotería, this body of work seeks to explore the connections between the individual and the whole. I wanted to create something that could simultaneously function as a conceptual unit as well as individual musings. Conceptually I use language and imagery to explore a variety of themes throughout each individual print. However, I more importantly am interested in the connections that bring the individuals together as a whole. The intention is for the viewer to make their own connections across the suite of prints and attach meaning by injecting their own life experiences into the work.
